"Men are respectable only as they respect"

"If you want to be respected by others the great thing is to respect yourself. Only by that, only by self-respect will you compel others to respect you"
Fyodor Dostoyevsky, 1821-1881

How do we gain respect??? Do we have to respect others in order to be respected?? Or do we have to be in higher position to be respected?? What if we respect others but somehow others do not respect us back?? Or what if we are the stakeholders but no one respect us?? Who's fault is that?? Who should be blamed for?? Is there someone or something that should have to be blamed or is it comes from within us?? What if...

1. The teacher is trying too hard to teach but the students are not listening at all?? Where is the respect??

2. The parents love and nurture their kids with all their love but somehow the kids disown them or being rude towards them. Where is the respect???

3. A friend is annoyed with the other friend keeps all the secrets and hold inside her feelings in order to protect the relationship. But somehow the other friend does not acted the same way, yet she is continuing hurting the friend. Where is the respect???

What say you???

p.s: What is love without respect??

  3. love comes first. love then u gain respect. or it is just a saying which makes us believe in it and sadly at the end of the day, the reality isn't align with expectation. so life is bitter and no matter how sweet life is, somehow, bitterness will conquer.

  5. My simple head thinks, we should start to respect others before others respect us.

We should lead by example, no matter who we are, bosses, parents, spouses, friends etc.etc.

Start with simple things that means a lot to gain respect. Use magic words, thank you, please, if you don't mind, excuse me, tumpang lalu, when you are ready, etc.etc.

    Cehhh...panjang pulak..mcm blog sendiri jer..I am sorry!!

  12. We can't be in control of what others do to us. You are only in control of what YOU do. So yes, respect others, and if they have an acceptable character, they will give you respect back. But if not, you know they aren't worth your time.

  13. You are not in control of what others do, only what YOU do. So with that said, yes, respect others. And in return they will respect you back. But if not, then you know they don't have any character and aren't worth your time.
